SIMMA and environmental management in Brazilian cities: The case of Rio das Ostras, RJ

This paper discusses the new strategies for organizing environmental management organization and promoting Environmental Education in Brazilian cities, based on the redistribution of competence and responsibility for these actions among public and private agencies which are, either directly or indirectly, connected with the issue. It also aims to highlight the role of non-governmental organizations which work in Rio das Ostras city, in RJ, and were invited to participate in this environmental network in order to spread and promote social actions to protect the environment.Downloads
