Abstract

This paper focuses on the relationship between workers in quarrying companies located in Greater Goiania, in Goiás, Brazil, and their environment. Firstly, the main residue in this sector, the filler, was characterized physicochemically. Then, workers from the production area filled out a form which aimed at evaluating their socio-economic-cultural profile, besides their health and their relation with environmental issues. The data which resulted from this diagnosis led to criticism and comments about the results of Environmental Education processes - which some quarrying companies have implemented – and their consequences for the workers’ lives.
