Abstract

The civil construction industry has used petroleum-based asphalt in the manufacture of HMAC (Hot-Mix Asphalt Concrete) for a long time. Nowadays, HMAC is widely used in road construction in Brazil. For adequate production, and to achieve the desired results according to current guidelines, certain technical requirements must be adhered to, based on simple and diametral compression traction tests. This article reviews the literature on HMAC manufacturing that uses different waste materials, presenting the technical application and environmental and economic feasibility of this material in roadway construction.
