This article addresses the inclusion of sex education in the school curriculum from a gender perspective, emphasizing the doctrine of full protection for children and adolescents. Based on a critical analysis of education in Brazil, the study focuses on gender theory and its implication in school development, highlighting the importance of sex education as a tool for preventing sexual violence and managing menstrual precariousness. It uses a deductive research method, supported by a comprehensive literature review that includes seminal works in the area of education and gender, as well as recent statistics on sexual violence and menstrual precariousness in Brazil. The research aims to demonstrate how the curricularization of sex education can contribute to dignity, safety and recognition of fundamental rights, in line with the precepts of the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA). The theoretical analysis is complemented by a systematic review of current educational policies, highlighting gaps and proposing ways for the effective integration of sex education into the school curriculum. It is concluded that sex education, when anchored in a critical understanding of gender and implemented in a continuous and integrated way, is essential for the formation of students who are aware, empowered and protected from violence.
