The aim of this work was determinated the centesimal composition and sexual cycle of clams the genus Anomalocardia brasiliana, from Reserva Extrativista Marinha do Pirajubaé (REMAPI) of Florianópolis/SC, Brasil, into two different seasons (fall and spring). The gender and reproductive stage were determined using histological procedures, those included Davidson’s solution as fixative, 5 μm sections and the tissue stained with Harris hematoxylin and eosin. The centesimal composition of the dried meat samples was done in triplicate, following the methods of Analytical Standards Institute Adolfo Lutz and the Association of Official Analytical Chemists. The value of moisture (84,1 and 83,1g%), proteins (8,3 e 9,3g%), lipids (0,7 e 1,2g%), carbohydrate (4,4 e 3,9g%) and ash (2,5g%) from the spring and fall, respectively, indicate that there was a significant sazonal variation in the values of proteins and lipids. These values reached highest values in autumn, in coincidence with a high energy reserve to the stage of gametogenesis. The determination of reproductive cycle is considered important because these sessile animals require high energy coast for reproduction.Downloads
